Albert Einstein

Original footage ... thanks to the efforts of the whole community *) it was finally possible to "decipher" what Einstein is saying: "Now I will add a few words unprepared. [laughter] A country becomes really a soul only in consciously serving the intellectual life, and in the case of our Jewish people it was really this endeavour, which conserved the Jewish people as a whole. We would not be in existence today, as a community of people, without this continued, or discontinued ... ehh ... activity into learning and in thought and in literature." The occasion of this speech is still unknown, though. *) Thanks to rubyslippez, ElmaFudd2...

Simultaneity - Albert Einstein and the Theory of Relativity

Imagine two observers, one seated in the center of a speeding train car, and another standing on the platform as the train races by. As the center of the car passes the observer on the platform, he sees two bolts of lightning strike the car - one on the front, and one on the rear. The flashes of light from each strike reach him at the same time, so he concludes that the bolts were simultaneous, since he knows that the light from both strikes traveled the same distance at the same speed, the speed of light. He also predicts that his friend on the train will notice the front strike before the rear strike, because from her perspective on the...

The life of Albert Einstein - part 1

He is best known for his theory of relativity and specifically mass-energy equivalence, E = mc2. Einstein received the 1921 Nobel Prize in Physics "for his services to Theoretical Physics, and especially for his discovery of the law of the photoelectric effect." Einstein's many contributions to physics include his special theory of relativity, which reconciled mechanics with electromagnetism, and his general theory of relativity, which extended the principle of relativity to non-uniform ...

Time Dilation - Albert Einstein and the Theory of Relativity

Two spaceships are traveling together through the galaxy at close to the speed of light. Mounted on one ship is a laser that can fire pulses of light, and on the other, a mirror. The pilot of the first ship fires a pulse at the mirror, and watches as it is reflected back. A clock on board measures how long the round trip takes. But now suppose that he does this as the ships are passing an observer on a nearby asteroid. According to relativity theory, this observer sees the pulse moving ...

Theory of Relativity, Albert Einstein

www.encognitive.com Theory of Relativity - The Basics The Theory of Relativity, proposed by the Jewish physicist Albert Einstein (1879-1955) in the early part of the 20th century, is one of the most significant scientific advances of our time. Although the concept of relativity was not introduced by Einstein, his major contribution was the recognition that the speed of light in a vacuum is constant and an absolute physical boundary for motion. This does not have a major impact on a person's ...

Special Theory of Relativity, Albert Einstein

www.encognitive.com The Basics of Special Relativity Relativity is a widely used term. It is generally used to describe everything from the comical version of E = mc2 to concepts about time travel. Here, we are referring to the theory called the Special Relativity which was first understood by Einstein. In Einstein's Special Theory of Relativity, he laid down two postulates 1. The laws of physics are the same in all reference frames. This first postulate put in everyday language. 2. The ...

"If the facts don't fit the theory, change the facts." -Albert Einstein

I, it's possible I.. Have gone too far when it comes to you. I can't wait for the day When all the bad things I just saw come crashing in And all I do is love you Wherever You Go By Ida Maria . . . very cute song I was stuck in a gaze here. This happens to me a lot, maybe because I don't get enough sleep and I try to stay up every living moment lol. Which isn't healthy at all! I catch myself sometimes. At times I would be so deep into my gaze I can feel my body go weak. Then I snap out of it and my brain say's "MADAY MADAY!" lol =] No..but someone actually caught me here. I have a few things on my mind. A lot to be honest....

Macclesfield - Infirmary - Verso, with links to Albert Einstein

This is the reverse side of the postcard featuring Macclesfield Infirmary. It was posted over a century ago on the 1st. July 1905. In fact 1905 is known as an Annus Mirabilis for Albert Einstein and for human knowledge, because in that year he published four seminal papers in the "Annalen der Physik" which contributed very substantially to the foundation of modern physics, and radically changed our views on space, time, and matter. Coincidentally, he published the third of his four papers on the 30th. June 1905, the day before this card was posted. This paper is now known as his "Special Theory of Relativity".

Bern Einsteinhaus (Einstein House) entrance (and "Pastamania" restaurant)

We were in Bern a few weeks before the 100th anniversary of Einstein publishing his theory of relativity, which he developed while working as a patent clerk and living in this house. Presumably the graffiti and roadway construction came later, or he wouldn't have been able to concentrate on his work at the time. The fact that the first floor of Albert Einstein's old home now has a restaurant called "Pastamania" lends itself readily to a number of string theory jokes that I'll refrain from making, but by all means you're welcome to have at it. Boun appetito!

change

If the facts don't fit the theory, change the facts. Albert Einstein canada's federal election was yesterday. unfortunately, we didn't change the government. the only consolation is that the conservatives still only have a minority. but i think there must have been some fuzzy thinking going on. so it seems it is time to change how we get things done. we cannot rely on this government to do anything to protect the environment. we will have to do it ourselves. the only thing left to say is ... happy bokeh wednesday!

Try and penetrate with our limited means the secrets of nature and you will find that, behind all the discernible concatenations, there remains something subtle, intangible and inexplicable.

Veneration for this force beyond anything that we can comprehend is my religion. To that extent I am, in point of fact, religious. ~ Albert Einstein This was Einstein's response to atheist, Alfred Kerr who after deriding ideas of God and religion at a dinner party in the home of the publisher Samuel Fischer, had queried him, "I hear that you are supposed to be deeply religious" as quoted in The Diary of a Cosmopolitan by H. G. Kessler, 1971 [View this panorama Large On Black]

I wish I could fit you in my tiny purse

"If the facts don't fit the theory, change the facts." -Albert Einstein I thought this quote was very fitting for this Illustration Friday «theory» theme. :) The text on my Illustration says «I wish I could fit you in my tiny purse». Wuppertal-Elberfeld: Cafe Zweistein

Better than having Einstein ("ein Stein" is "one stone" in German) is having "Zweistein"e (which would be "two stones" in German). Well, the name of the Café includes some kind of pun which does not work in English translation. But you probably get the idea. Anyhow I liked the fact that the identical Einstein twins are being carefully observed by a lady. Or is she stubbornly ignoring them?

Siberian tiger (Panthera tigris altaica)

It's a little known fact that Albert Einstein was a tiger.

A fellow who does things that count, doesn't usually stop to count them. ~Variation of a saying by Albert Einstein

Got caught by a train today on my way to my friend's house... Don't know why I snapped a picture, probably cause I had my camera on me. Today's Random Fact: I don't live very far from where I grew up and I hate the town I live in. I wish the economy was better so we could sell our house and move away from here
