eyes of buddha

10. The Philosophy of change. The Buddha teaches that all conditioned things are in a state of flux or change, and thus impermanent. The ever changing nature of both mind and matter proves the insubstantiality of life, and the instability of existence. Knowing this, Khema the consort of King Bimbisara avoided going to see the Buddha: for being very beautiful, she was afraid the Buddha would disparage her self-conscious awareness of her loveliness. As she went into his presence one day, the ...

Buddha Bar IV - Ishtar "Comme Toi"

This is a cover of French singer Jean-Jacques Goldman. He is telling to his daughter while she is sleeping the story of a young girl that was deported to an extermination camp during WWII in Eastern Europe. Goldman's family was from Germany and Poland, being Jewish they had to leave the country and settled in France. The Egyptian Eye - The Science pt.2/2

The basics are key. If you dont understand the basics, the bigger stuff will seem a mystery or incomprehensible. There is no secrets, only those with the eyes to see, ears to hear, mouth to speak truth, hands to perform alchemy, mind to understand and those not awake to do so. Portrait of a Lao Monk

Yes, the thing that strikes many visitors to Laos, besides the beauty and solitude of the place, is the incredible number of Buddhist monks walking around. Dressed in those trademark saffron robes, you'll easily spot them walking in pairs, usually with an umbrella in hand to ward off either sunrays or raindrops. In the early morning hours, when they make their daily alms rounds through town, it seems as if a wave of orange is flowing down the streets. Their lifestyle is shaped so as to support their spiritual practice, to live a simple and meditative life. Photo taken at a temple at Ban Thieng. We had to run during our bike...

Nepal - Buddha's mysterious eyes on Swayambhunath Stupa

On virtually every stupa (Buddhist shrine) in Nepal, there are giant pairs of eyes staring out from the four sides of the main tower. These are Buddha Eyes (also known as Wisdom Eyes), and they look out in the four directions to symbolize the omniscience (all-seeing) of a Buddha. The Buddha eyes are so prevalent throughout the country that they have become a symbol of Nepal itself. The mysterious eyes, painted on all four sides of the stupa's spire, represent the eyes of the Buddha and face the four cardinal directions--east, west, north, and south. Between each pair of eyes, where the nose would be, is what looks like a question mark....

Puppy Eyes Buddha

I took this photo of little Buddha before we left for our trip to Hawaii (and left it on my camera so I could look at it often). I think little Buddha knew we were leaving and was a little sad. Truth is though, he had a GREAT time with his Nana and tricked her into giving him lots of peanut butter!

Buddha Eyes

John was recently in Nepal & he had these earings made for me. They are silver with my birthstone, garnet. This symbol represents the all seeing eyes of Buddha. The small dot depicted between the eyes represents the third eye, a symbol of spiritual awakening. The curious squiggle between the eyes is the Sanscrit numeral one, and symbolizes the unity of all things. For 52 weeks about U week 5 Wisdom eyes of Buddha

The curl of white hair in the center of the brow is likened to a cosmic eye from which emanates the light of wisdom, or a third eye signifying the Buddha's supreme insight.
