Walking home around 11pm we came across this remarkable scene - a rehearsal for the Royal Military Tattoo was just finishing and here were cavalry troops leading immaculately groomed horses down the cobbled street from the gates of Edinburgh Castle. What an amazing sight to come across. As we were walking home from some Fringe shows I didn't have a tripod so all of these pics of the cavalry horses were freehand, surprised they came out at all

As you can see, even at 11pm the summer sky in Scotland is never totally dark, still retaining a deep glow. The northern sky is even lighter, with the sun barely dipping below the horizon at this time of year, light still glowing upwards to give the north a pale blue glow, while the southern sky here is a deep blue. Wish I'd had the tripod to steady this, but as we were walking home from a night at the Fringe I didn't have it with me, so had to go freehand - too good an opportunity not to try a pic! Most of the many tourists who flock to the Tattoo or even the locals won't see this nocturnal scene as the cavalry lead their horses back...

He chose a mustang

Here is the new tattoo I just had done on 9/6/06. (P.S. It's a horse, not a panther.)

Here is the final job. It is very red from all the abuse the skin took. This tattoo is of my "late" mare that I loved very much. She was one of those super intelligent horses you always dream about finding. On the bottom of the horse's collar is the Claddagh ring design: A crown over two hand holding a heart. It means Loyalty, Support and Love. So now I have my Irish wedding ring blended into my tattoo. You can see my ring in the photo too.

I have waited so long to get this, and I love it. I love Charismatic, he touches my heart in so many ways.

I drew this for a tattoo I want. It signifies life and death for me as well as my undying love for horse training. Done with crayon and the only editing done was darkness.

Waiting to put the horses into their transports home, just next to Edinburgh Castle in the heart of the Old Town, late summer evening, the sound of bagpipes and horse's hooves. I do wish I had my tripod with me to shoot these properly, but I wasn't expecting to come across a scene like this
