A dark shot of the buddha using a red sidelight. I am working with a new digi, so I wasn't sure what I would get. I'd like to try this again in and see if I could shoot it again sharper. I kept this particular photo because I thought the softness lent a bit of atmosphere to the photo. Is it art or junk?

This is my Thai Buddha. I bought it off Ebay. The seller indicated he had purchased it in Krung Thep Maha Nakhon (Bangkok) in 1968. He seemed very reputable, so I take it as the truth. Strobist Info: Two Vivitar 285HVs with red gels located on either side of the Buddha were fired at a white sheet behind the figure. Overexposing for the background made it appear white and the light bounced off an opposite wall and back onto the figure which colored it. Hope that makes sense. :-) I wish I could say it was intended but it was just a cool accident.

Small Buddha (Pu-Tai, Hotei, whatever) figure that a former boss of mine brought back from China. Pretty much straight from the camera except for a slight WB adjustment. Strobist Info: Subject is sitting on a glass plate. Vivitar 285hv located underneath, pointing slightly upwards towards white foamboard at back of scene fired at 1/16 or 1/4 power (I think). Flash is gelled with a red gel (Roscolux #2001).

At Horinji, they had two red Buddha statues. Something I'd never seen before. Given the cap and bob, I'm guessing it's Jizo, a very popular figure in Japanese Buddhism.

The box was a gift from my Mom, and the dried Japanese Maple leaves are from my garden. This is lit using the overhead light in my studio, and daylight from a north facing window, on the right, partially filtered through rice paper blinds.
